Brewing Perfect Coffee with the Pedrini SteelMoka
The moka pot is a beloved Italian invention that has been brewing strong, espresso-style coffee since the 1930s. Pedrini's SteelMoka brings that same tradition to the modern kitchen — compatible with both induction hobs and gas stoves, and crafted from durable stainless steel for lasting performance.
What You Need
- Pedrini SteelMoka
- Fresh cold water
- Medium-fine ground coffee (moka grind)
- Induction hob or gas stove
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Open the moka pot. Unscrew the top chamber from the base. Make sure the pot is cool before handling.
- Fill with cold water. Pour fresh, cold water into the base up to the safety valve level — never above it. Using cold water gives you better control over the brewing process.
- Insert the funnel filter. Place the metal funnel basket into the base.
- Add ground coffee. Fill the funnel with medium-fine ground coffee. Level it off gently — do not press or tamp down the grounds. Overpacking can restrict water flow and produce bitter coffee.
- Close the moka pot. Screw the top chamber firmly onto the base to create an airtight seal.
- Place on the heat source. Set the SteelMoka on an induction hob or gas stove over medium-low heat. If using gas: make sure the flame stays directly under the base and does not reach up the sides of the pot — this prevents the rubber gasket from degrading.
- Wait a few minutes. The water in the base will heat up, build pressure, and push hot water up through the coffee grounds into the upper chamber.
- Listen for the gurgle. When you hear a steady bubbling or gurgling sound, reduce the heat immediately. This is the sign that coffee is flowing into the upper chamber.
- Don't lift the lid. Resist the urge to check inside. Lifting the lid releases pressure and interrupts the brew. Trust the process.
- Pour when the gurgle fades. Once the gurgling slows down and becomes a gentle sputtering, your coffee is ready. Remove from heat and pour immediately.
Tips for the Best Cup
- Use freshly ground coffee for the most aromatic result.
- Never leave the moka pot unattended on high heat — it can scorch the coffee.
- Rinse with water after each use; avoid soap which can affect flavor over time.
- The SteelMoka's stainless steel body means no aluminium taste — a cleaner cup every time.
With just a few minutes and the right technique, the Pedrini SteelMoka delivers a rich, full-bodied coffee experience that rivals any café. Enjoy your brew.
